Koma-Amok, 1997

In the forest, far away from civilization, a faint mechanical ticking sound can be heard. Among moss and tree trunks stands a broken down traffic sign that with no apparent reason switches between green and red light. This derelict remnant from the buzz and chaos of the city, now placed in the calm of a northern Swedish pine forest, creates an unexpected clash. As Warhol once noted, the fear of nature lies in the absence of the city. In the city there are small miniatures of nature made as parks. But out in the wild there are no Lilliput towns placed to calm the homesick urban refugee.

The work is part of the permanent collection of Umedalens Skulptur
