Full Stop, 2003
The sculpture Full Stop consists of a black polyester sphere supported by a system of wheels that makes it possible to move in any direction. On one side there is a small door that allows the visitor to enter the sphere and shut him/herself inside. The interior of the sphere is covered with soft, black and sound-deadening foam rubber. The visitor is able to walk in any direction as the sphere smoothly spins with the movement.
Full stop is the typographical symbol that means the end of something: a sentence, an activity, or a life… In this installation there is a possibility to extend the motion that the full stop usually terminates. Like in a drunk state Full Stop becomes a place and a site where words and sense transforms into a fumbling and tumbling - a blackout or a black hole from which no information can escape.
