Tomorrow's Weather, Stockholm Central, 2011

Bigert & Bergström have been commissioned to make a large-scale public art project for the Central Station in Stockholm. Inspired by the contemporary obsession of making accurate predictions of the future in order to control it, the installation will be a two-way directed time-line. On one hand, a sediment topography is constructed that relates to information withdrawn from millions of years of compressed snowfall. On the other hand a finger is directed towards the near future in form of a cluster of shining atmospheric molecules connected to a weather forecast station. The changing light scenarios omitted by the molecules, will give the travelers passing by the installation, an intuitive glimpse of what weather is to come.

The project will be realized in late 2011. In collaboration with The National Public Art Council Sweden and Jernhusen.
